Power yoga is a vigorous, fitness-based approach to Vinyasa-style yoga adapted from the traditional Ashtanga yoga in the late '80s to appeal to the aerobic-crazed out there. Unlike Ashtanga, Power Yoga moves with an even faster rhythm allowing more cardio output, and does not follow a set series of poses. Classes can vary widely yet still emphasise on strength and flexibility. They will incorporate a serious number of Vinyasas, and will definitely get your entire body into gear. Whatever your level is, prepare to work hard and work up a sweat; it is an active and athletic style of yoga. You may be an athlete but that doesn't mean Power Yoga will be easy!
